Does Handcrafted Home handle permits and inspections?
Yes! We follow legal requirements for required permits and inspections in the state of Iowa, handling both the application of all required permits and fees. We handle the scheduling for utility marking when required and see every project through its entirety from rough-in inspections to final inspections and provide documentation on all permits acquired to ensure that the project is completed under code compliance through Iowa state law.
Do you work with Insurance?
Yes! We can provide estimates for insurance companies and communicate with insurance adjusters, handle and schedule the inspection process, and we work directly with insurance to resolve claims as timely as possible. Our goal is to help families utilize their insurance to restore their home back to a whole in the event of needing an insurance claim for repairs due to natural disasters, fires, mold, water damage, and more with our Mitigation partners working alongside us. We are here to help you in the event of an insurance claim, and we have experience in the process of claims!
How much does a remodel cost?
Every remodel is unique, and the price may vary. Estimates given on each project are used with attention to detail and accuracy, and Xactimate software is used on large scale projects. Full scale kitchen remodels start between $10,000 and $20,000 depending on quality and quantity of materials chosen, cabinets and countertops, appliances, electric and plumbing relocation or upgrades, etc. Schedule a free estimate today to get a quote!
Handcrafted Home offers flexible payment plans and financing is available through our 3rd party affiliates via Intuit. Payment structure depends on the size of the project, but clients can expect to sign a contract upon agreed price and required upgrades to remain code compliant, pay a deposit of between 5%-30%, and pay weekly or bi-weekly progress payments until completion of project.
Can you match my home’s current style or historical value?
Yes! We specialize in remodeling of all styles, and take care to ensure our client’s style selection is unique to their home and preference. Material selection for each home is a unique process that we walk through together!
Can I supply my own materials to save money?
Yes! We are not your boss. We are your ally in the construction business! With every project being unique, we have various suggestions for materials, but welcome all of our clients to make their own selections and purchase their own materials if desired. We only require certain items, such as waterproofing for showers (Schluter) so that we can provide a product warranty to our clients.
Do you Help with Design and Material Selection?
Yes! Handcrafted Home used cutting edge technology to deliver easy to read designs, layouts, customization, color coordination, and more! We handle the entire project from start to finish.
How long does a Kitchen or Bathroom Remodel Take?
Remodels, if they are full scale, meaning gutting the old and installing all new materials and fixtures, can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months; this depends on if we are utilizing new designs and installing new cabinets, etc. or if we are repainting or re-using materials and fixtures. The demolition is the fastest part, then we wait on a permit approval after plans are submitted, which can take several days depending on the building department. We aim to maintain an accurate timeline and realistic expectations. Transparency is an important part of building trust and relationships. Full scale remodels are noisy and messy, but our experienced crew takes care in masking to protect the home from dust as much as possible, but we do advise that you will see dust no matter what during a remodel. With realistic expectations in mind, please note that the temporary invasion of space & noisiness during a remodel is 100% worth it for the finished result! Our crew aims to keep a tidy and clean work area while they are executing high quality results. Once permits are approved, the remodeling begins and this may or may not require code upgrades for electric or plumbing depending on your project. The average kitchen or bathroom remodel takes 2-12 weeks if it consists of simple materials and minimal upgrades. We like to estimate a longer time and surprise you if we finish any earlier :) Please discuss your project with the contractor for an estimated timeline!
Please call us with any additional questions or comments! We welcome all inquiries, and no question is too small! We want to be a light in our community & turn HOUSES into HANDCRAFTED HOMES!
